Goldie Tidwell Platé, 88, of Columbia, passed away peacefully into Heaven on September 22, 2020 with her family by her side. Born March 7, 1932, in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late Dalton C. Tidwell and Ollie Easler Sharpe.
A devoted wife and mother, Goldie was known for her boundless energy and eternal optimism. She always provided much love and laughter to her family and friends. Goldie left an indelible impression on everyone she met. She was a one-of-a-kind spirit who will be greatly missed.
Mrs. Platé is survived by her only son, Kevin Platé and his wife, Renée, and grandson, Trenton Platé, all of North Tustin, California. Additional surviving family includes three sisters, June Cornell, Cathy Hearn, and Margie Prather. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Charles Platé, sister, Barbara Condon, and her brother, Dalton Tidwell, Jr.
A memorial service for Mrs. Platé will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday, September 26th at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, SC with Rev. R. Joseph Copeland officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the memorial service beginning at 1 o'clock.
