Obituary

Gracie Lee Church, of West Columbia, died Wednesday, September 23, 2015. Born in Marion County, South Carolina to the late Atticus Hagood Carter and Lula Edna Carter, she married the late Robert Lee Church.

Being a homemaker, Gracie loved to cook for her family and friends, sew quilts, can vegetables and fruits, and travel. She was a long time member of Saluda River Baptist Church, and the We Care Sunday School Class.

Survivors include her daughter, Debbie Ann Church (Pratt) Smith of Lexington; sisters, Christine Jackson of Manning, Patricia Daniels of Mullins, Bonnie Holt of Loris; brothers, James D. Carter of Darlington, Richard Carter of Sumter; grandsons, Jay (Mandy) Smith of Lexington and Robbie Smith of West Columbia; and great grandchildren, Mabry and Jackson Smith of Lexington. In addition to her parents and husband, Gracie was preceded in death by her sister, Florence Price of Marion, SC.

A viewing will take place at Saluda River Baptist Church on Saturday, September 26, 2015 beginning at 10:30 o'clock, with burial in Woodridge Memorial Park at 12 o'clock. A memorial service for Mrs. Church will then be held at 1 o'clock at Saluda River Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. Charles Westbrook officiating, and the family will receive friends following the service.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to Hospice of Tri-County for the love and care given to Mrs. Church. A special thank you goes to Melanie, Cindy, Ashley, Dianna and the staff at Colonial Gardens for their kind and attentive care.
