Hamilton H. McLaughlin Jr., 74, of Elgin, SC, passed away Friday, February 17th, 2023. Mr. McLaughlin was born in Florence County, SC, son of the late Hamilton H. McLaughlin Sr. and Pauline Mixon McLaughlin. He was retired from Dick Smith Automotive Group. Mr. McLaughlin is known for three things. His love for his God and Jesus, his love for his family, and his love for life.

In addition to his parents, Hamilton McLaughlin Jr. is predeceased by his sisters, Frassie Lee, Mary Johnson, and Georgia Smith.

Mr. McLaughlin is survived by his loving wife and friend, Desiree R. McLaughlin; daughters, Tammy (Michael) Woodle, Wendy Williams, and Elizabeth McLaughlin; sons, Hamilton H. McLaughlin III, Dean McLaughlin, and Steven McLaughlin; niece, Loraine (Coley) Poston; brother, Rubin (Debra) McLaughlin; and many grand children, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, February 22nd at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Rd., Columbia, SC at 2 o'clock. Mr. McLaughlin will lie in repose at Shives Funeral Home, 7600 Trenholm Rd. Ext., Columbia, SC, on Tuesday, February 21st from 1 o'clock until 5 o'clock for anyone who wishes to come pay their respects.
