Harry Thomas Vogel, III, 45, entered into eternal rest holding his mother's hand on Saturday, April 2, 2016. Harry and his twin brother, Samuel, were born at the Philadelphia Naval Hospital, Philadelphia, PA on September 1, 1970 to parents Harry T. and Merit N. Vogel. After graduating from EE Smith High School in Fayetteville, NC, Harry joined the Army, went to paratrooper and infantry school and was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, NC. Upon discharge from the Army, he went to work for the Virgin Lightship Group as a blimp crew chief traveling all over the United States supporting many different sporting events, returning back to South Carolina to be an electrician. During his life, Harry has lived in many locations and been around the world; Alaska, Europe, Massachusetts, West Point, NY, Fort Bragg, NC, Indianapolis, Indiana, Omaha, Nebraska, St. Louis, Missouri, and Columbia, SC. Harry had many friends and enjoyed meeting new people and spending time with his family. He enjoyed watching all sports and cheering for his favorite basketball team the Los Angeles Lakers.
In addition to his parents and twin brother, Harry is survived by a daughter, Caitlyn Zoe Vogel and a son, Brody Taylor and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 7 o'clock, Friday, April 8th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 6 o'clock.
