Hazel O. Wise, 87, of Columbia, died Wednesday, January 20, 2016. Born in Elizabethtown, NC on May 23, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Jasper and Lella Lee Suggs Owen. Mrs. Wise was a member of Spring Valley Baptist Church. She was a wonderful, caring, exceptional mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Mrs. Wise loved the Lord, her church family and was loved by all. She was quite the lady.

Survivors include her daughter, Jeannette W. Johnson (Scott) of Clover; grandchildren, George T. Johnson (Nikki), Owen Johnson, Travis Johnson (Jaclyn) all of Clover, Brittany Owen (Chad) of Lexington, G. Robinson Wise, III of Charlotte; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Sarah Hester of Tampa, FL; brother, Austin Owen of Dumfries, VA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, George R. Wise, Sr; a son, George R. Wise, Jr.; and four siblings.

A service will be held at 2 o'clock, Sunday, January 24th at Spring Valley Baptist Church, with The Rev. Dr. Robert Winburn and The Rev. Dr. George Crow officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1 o'clock. Memorials may be made to God's Storehouse, 1731 Risley Road, Columbia, SC 29223 or to Spring Valley Baptist Church Building Fund, 91 Polo Road, Columbia, SC 29223.
