Helen Harrell Hale went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 8, 2025, while in Social Circle, Georgia. A native of Live Oak, Florida, Helen was born on May 26, 1932, a daughter of the late William R. and Laura Lee Harrell. She was married to William H. Hale for 63 years.
In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by six siblings. She leaves behind two sons, Tom (Dru) of Social Circle, Georgia, and Barry (Kim) of Columbia, South Carolina; six grandchildren, Travis, Hunter (Murray), Conor (Teva), Bennett, Kirsten (Austin), and Jackson, as well as two great grandchildren, India-Rae and Arthur.
Helen was a graduate of Norman College in Norman Park, Georgia where she met her husband, Bill. Bill and Helen were voted the "cutest couple" on campus and were married on Christmas Day after graduation.
Helen was a faithful Christian and an active member of Shandon Baptist Church. She served alongside her husband in every church they joined as a Sunday school teacher, wedding coordinator and deacon's wife. She was employed as a legal secretary for over 40 years, but her favorite job was being Mimi to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The graveside service for Helen will be at 11 o'clock, Friday, May 16th, at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 7100 Garners Ferry Road, Columbia, South Carolina 29209 with Missionary Kirsten Hale Burns, International Mission Board, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, Helen requested donations be made to the Missions Ministry at Shandon Baptist Church, 5250 Forest Dr, Columbia, SC 29206.
Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is aiding the family.
