Helen Hill, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on June 18, 2024. Born to her loving parents, John and Helen London on May 28, 1938, in Durham, NC, Helen grew up in Pittsboro, NC, with younger sisters, Caroline and Ann. She attended Saint Mary's High School and graduated from Salem College, where she had many long-lasting friends, fondly known as the "Salem Girls."
She married Buddy Hill 65 years ago and lived in Columbia, SC, for the remainder of her life. She was involved in many community activities and loved her work at the Parasol, Gibson's on Saluda, and the Portrait Source. One of her greatest passions was art, and she enjoyed her time being involved and serving on the board of directors at the Columbia Museum of Art. She was a lifelong member of Trinity Cathedral, serving on many committees and as Bazaar Chair. Helen and Buddy shared a love for travel, but it was during these trips that Helen's passion for art truly shone. She loved to wander through every museum and art gallery many times coming home with a piece to add to her amazing collection.
Helen, also known as Mimi loved nothing more than spending time with her family. Her 3 children, John (Priscilla), Edward (Erin) and Ann Stoever (Brude) were her pride and joy. However, it was her 7 grandchildren, Helen, Brude, Hill, Buddy, Hunter, Caroline, and Kate, who truly captured her heart. She cherished every moment spent with them. She loved her time at Kiawah, playing tennis, or bridge, working her crossword puzzles, or reading. Her vibrant spirit was always the life of every party.
