Helen Helms Lee, 71, of Columbia, died Wednesday, September 7, 2016. Born in Columbia on April 23, 1945, she was a daughter of the late Donald L. Helms, Jr. and Rachel Jenkins Helms. She was a member of Shandon Baptist Church.

Survivors include her niece, Shawn Nix (Greg) of Ware Shoals; nephew, Trey Helms (Sarah) of Newport News, VA; great-niece, Rachel-Beth Nix; great-nephews, Andrew Nix, Hunter Helms, and Nathan Helms; as well as extended family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Don Edward Lee; her daughter, Donna Howell; and brother, Donald L. Helms, III.

A graveside service will be held 11 o'clock, Saturday, September 10th at Elmwood Cemetery, 501 Elmwood Avenue, Columbia, with The Rev. Greg Nix officiating. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
