Helen M. McCauslin, 91, of Columbia, died peacefully December 18, 2018. Born in Cleveland, OH, on March 10, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Julia Deyling. Helen was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She, and her late husband, were founding members of St. John Neumann Catholic Church, where she also served as Secretary as well as on the Bereavement Committee. She also spent many years volunteering at Richland Memorial Hospital in the critical care unit. Other activities she enjoyed were the Women's Gourmet Club, Newcomers Club and a Pink Lady.

Survivors include her children Patrick M. (Terry) McCauslin of College Grove, TN, daughter, Kelly L. (Mark) Lavell of Blythewood, SC, granddaughter Ryan (Kyle) Shelton of Columbia, SC, grandson, Tim Howard, Alexandria, VA and great granddaughter, Chandler Shelton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James P. McCauslin and daughter Robin M. Gills.

A private service was held at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 100 Polo Road, Columbia, with Fr. C. Alexander McDonald officiating. Burial will be private. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
