Helen Pellicci (nee Helen Edna Abdalla), 89, of Columbia passed peacefully on Sunday, January 1, 2023. Born in Columbia, SC on July 7, 1933, she was the youngest daughter of the late Michael Abdalla and Edna Mae Dunlap.
Helen is survived by her son, Martin (Allison) Pellicci of Hilton Head Is.; daughter, Laural (Edward) McManus of Rock Spring, Ga; and daughter in law, Anita Pellicci of Columbia; granddaughters, Mallerie Pellicci, Whitney (David) Pitts, Anna Pellicci; grandsons, Joel (Sarah) Pellicci, Benjamin Pellicci, and Maxim McManus; two great-granddaughters; one great-grandson; sister, Mary Kahaly of Columbia, SC; a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her son, Joseph Pellicci; and her sister, Frances Brodie.
Helen attended Ursuline High School in Columbia, and had a long secretarial career, finally retiring as a medical transcriptionist.
She was an avid reader, lover of music, extremely proud of her Lebanese heritage and deeply devoted to her Catholic faith. She had a special affinity for the Blessed Mother, believing her mission in life was to pray for all family's faith, for the Holy Souls of Purgatory and to open her heart and home to those less fortunate.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 21st, at 11 o'clock at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Final Commendation and Farewell Prayers will be said at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Columbia, SC. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 until 7 o'clock, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia. A rosary will be held prior to the visitation at the funeral home beginning at 5:30 o'clock.
