Helga Anneliese Zengerling, 74, transitioned into her heavenly Father's arms on June 16, 2017, at Palmetto Richland Hospital, Columbia, S.C.
Helga was born on January 22, 1943 in Trier, Germany, a daughter of the late Peter Albert and Maria Sophie Wettels Zengerling. She moved to the United States in 1961 and became a citizen in 1971. For most of her life she lived in her beloved Orange County, California before moving to Columbia, S.C. in 2012 to be near family. She was a purchasing agent in the hospitality business for the Phoenix Club in Anaheim, California and the American Embassy in Bonn, Germany. Helga was one of a kind, dearly loved, and will be greatly missed. She is suffering no more.
She is survived by her brother, Hans-Albert (Brigitte) Zengerling of Wuppertal, Germany; sister, Inge Zengerling-Stieger of Pirmasens, Germany; nieces, Vanessa Zengerling of Köln, Germany, Christina (Martin) Lenz of Bietigheim, Germany and Gabriele (Terryl) Jefferson of Irmo, S.C.; nephew, Maximilian Zengerling of Germany; great-nieces, Maliah Jefferson and Danii (Aaron) Gantt of Irmo, S.C.; and a great-nephew, Rian (Holly, Baby Gray) Jefferson of Columbia, S.C. A visitation will be held from 6 until 7 o'clock, on Friday, July 14th, at Shives Funeral home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia.
