Henry William Plyler, 87, of Batesburg, SC, went to be with the Lord in Heaven on Friday, June 3, 2022. Born in Monroe, NC, on July 23, 1934, he was a son of the late John Henry and Myrtle Hilton Plyler. He attended Northside Baptist Church and worked for the State Hospital and the City of Columbia before his retirement in 1986. Following his retirement, he spent many years enjoying his family, cutting the grass, being outdoors and helping people. Celebrations or gatherings were always exciting for him and he never missed a chance to spend time with those he loved. He was a member of the Earlwood Masonic Lodge, now known as the Acacia Lodge #94.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Grace Jackson Plyler; daughter, Jenny Fallaw; son, Wayne Plyler (Terri); daughter, Angie Dolan (Matt); grandchildren, Becky McCraw (Jimmy), Pam Shirle, Grace Fallaw, Ali Plyler, Cole Plyler, Courtney Fachko (Tyler), Caitlin Dolan, Kinsley Dolan, and Kristin Cooper; great-grandchildren, Christopher, Brittany (Ryan), Magan (Hunter), Cody, Brandon, Hayley, Dylan, Corley and Gabriel; great-great grandchildren, Carter, Laura Bell, Camden, Bailey, Paisley and Presley; as well as special neighbors, Bruce and Diane Brown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Larry William Plyler; brother, Thomas Plyler; and son-in-law, Harold Fallaw.
The graveside service with Masonic Rites for Mr. Plyler will be held at 11 o'clock, Monday, June 6th, at Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens, with Pastor Steve Allen officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 9:30 until 10:30 o'clock at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, SC.
