Henry S. Starnes, Sr., 78, of Columbia, died Tuesday, July 19, 2016. Born April 23, 1938 in Columbia, he was a son of the late Charles Starnes, Sr. and Beatrice Outlaw Starnes. Henry worked with Columbia Office Supply for more than 20 years, and later opened his own business, Pineway Office Machines. He was a loving husband and father, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.

Survivors include his son, Henry S. "Sandy" Starnes, Jr. of Blythewood; brothers-in-law, Jack Jackson (Evelyn) of Nichols, SC and Ernie Jackson of Florence; sister-in-law, Jane Dawkins of Elgin; as well as numerous nieces and nephews; family friend, Cecil Sansbury. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joyce Starnes; and brother, Charles "Zippy" Starnes, Jr.

A service will be held 3 o'clock, Sunday, July 24th, at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia, with Pastor Harry Varn officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 2 o'clock. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to SC Dept. Of Natural Resources Fund, 1000 Assembly Street, Columbia, SC 29201.
