Mr. Horace Edwin "Ed" Williams, 85, of Columbia, died Tuesday, January 8, 2013. Born August 13, 1927, in Seven Springs, NC, he was a son of the late James Archie Williams and Rena Smith Williams.
He was the most loving and dedicated father, grandfather, and great grandfather in the world, who never missed a family function or event. Mr. Williams earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from UNC Chapel Hill. He served in the US Navy for three years and later became a comptroller of Dixie Radio Supply. An active member of St. Martin's in-the-Fields Episcopal Church, Mr. Williams was a former member of the church choir, Forest Lake Club, and Richland Sertoma Club. He was also a former and charter member of St. Michael and All Angels' Episcopal Church.
Survivors include his son, Horace Edwin "Win" Williams, Jr. of Columbia; daughter, Sheryl "Shea" Wall (John) of Chapin; grandchildren, Chevis (Marc) Fogarty, Taylor (John) Gepper, Michel Williams, all of Columbia; great grandchildren, Ryanne and TaylorAnne Fogarty, Madison and Davis Gepper; best friend, Marvin Taylor of Columbia; one nephew and three nieces and their families. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother and three sisters; five siblings together forever at last.
A memorial service for Mr. Williams will be held 2 o'clock, Sunday, January 13th, at St. Martin's in-the-Fields Episcopal Church with The Rev. Sally Johnston and The Rev. David Wagner officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church memorial garden. The family will greet friends following the service in the Parish Hall.
