Mr. Hubert Brandon Coker, 45, of Blythewood, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2026. Born on July 29, 1980, he was the son of Hubert Dwayne Coker and Catherine Evans Coker.
A graduate of East Clarendon High School, Brandon continued his education at Southern Wesleyan University, on a baseball scholarship, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. His commitment to service led him to the Army National Guard, where he honorably served as a Sergeant First Class. During his military career, he completed two deployments in Afghanistan and Iraq, demonstrating courage, leadership, and unwavering dedication to his country.
During his military service, Brandon worked as a mechanical technician at McEntire Joint Base in Eastover, where he was loved by his fellow Armament brothers.
Beyond his professional life, Brandon had a deep love for baseball. As a former college player and volunteer coach for Blythewood recreational teams, he took great pride in mentoring young athletes and sharing his passion for the game. He also enjoyed golfing— though he often joked he was not very good —and treasured the laughter and camaraderie it brought.
He married the love of his life Darilyn on June 12, 2004. He had three beautiful children that were his pride and joy. He enjoyed cooking, teasing and traveling with his family. He was a "mountain of a man" to his family who carried the heavy luggage, performed cabana boy duties, blocked the big waves at the beach and reached everything on the top shelf.
Brandon found his greatest joy in time spent with his family. He cherished cross-country trips, creating lasting memories along the way. Among his favorite experiences were visits to the Baseball Hall of Fame and playing ball with his family on the iconic Field of Dreams, moments he held close to his heart.
Surviving are his wife, Darilyn Galloway-Coker and their children: Tessa (18) ,Chad (15) and Ace(14). He is also survived by his parents Hubert "Dwayne" and Catherine (Evans) Coker, in-laws Michael & Debbie ( Miller) Galloway of Pamplico, SC; sister in law, Tiah Galloway-Sherill (Eric) of Matthews NC; and numerous aunts and uncles. He is proceeded in death by his grandparents: Hubert and Vera (McKenzie) Coker; and William " Bill" and Harriet (Thomas) Evans.
