Hugh Francis Doran, 83, of Columbia, died on Friday, November 7, 2025. Mr. Doran devoted his life to serving the Veterans of this country as a VA Medical Center Administrator for over 35 years, and to his big and beloved family.

He is survived by his devoted wife Raiza Mendoza, "forever and a day he loved her." Mr. Doran was also survived by his adored children, Maire Doran, Patrick Doran and wife Juli, Sarah Hooks and husband Michael, Anna Doran, and Hugh Doran and his wife Emma. His grandchildren were the light of his life. They are Kathryn Billings, Sarah Holcombe, Ryan Hooks, Reagan Hooks, Ashtyn Doran, Hugh Doran, and Jack Doran. Additionally, he will be remembered by his brother, Dan Doran and wife Jan, as well as Raiza's children and grandchildren.

Mr. Doran loved his Alma mater, the University of Illinois, coaching his children's sports, playing golf, watching his grandchildren play sports, and honoring Veterans in the Medical Centers he made his career at over the years.

He will forever live in our hearts, as will his legacy of love and kindness.

Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family and will announce further plans.
