Hugh Swinton Vann, Jr., 78, of Blythewood, died Friday, August 29, 2014. Raised by beloved aunt and uncle, John and Parker Thornton, Hugh was born in Harnett County, NC on August 6, 1936, to the late Hugh Swinton Vann, Sr. and Pauline Baggett Vann.

Mr. Vann is survived by his wife, Judy Vann of Blythewood; sons, Kin (Cindy) Britton of Spartanburg, SC, Patrick (Nichi) Britton of Myrtle Beach, SC, Randy Vann of Highlands, NC, and Scott Vann of Kennesaw, GA; sisters, Joanne (Joseph) Williams of Clinton, NC and Jeanne (Ray) Jackson of Jacksonville, NC as well as six grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a son, Hugh Swinton Vann, III; and a brother, Paul Vann.

The memorial service for Mr. Vann will be held 1 o'clock Monday, September 1, 2014 at Trinity United Methodist Church (corner of Boney and Blythewood Roads, Blythewood) with The Reverend C. Nels Ledwell officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
