Columbia: Ida Bell Starnes Rogers, 93, widow of Norman E. Rogers, Sr., of Columbia passed away on Friday, August 24, 2012. Born in Columbia, SC, on March 21, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Henry Starnes and Lillie Lorick Starnes.
Survivors include her two sons, Norman E. (Dorothy) Rogers, Jr., of Columbia, and Merwin L. (Ginger) Rogers, of Columbia; Grandsons, Christopher Rogers and Laurel Lewis of Lexington and Brent (Sarah) Rogers of Lexington; and their mother, Linda C. Rogers of Lexington; Granddaughter, Whitley (Will) Wood of Charlotte, NC; Great-grandson, Caedmon Rogers; Great-granddaughters, Mabyn Rogers, Taylor Wood, and Madison Wood; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her loving dog, Punkin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; and sisters, Lily Bell Hill Sease, Ola Mae Steckel, Ruth Hedgepath, and Etheline Robertson.
A funeral service will be held at 4 o'clock, Sunday, August 26, 2012, at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Dr., Columbia, with Pastor Billy W. Hill officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A private interment will take place at a later date.
