Inez Grooms Tyner. 99, of Columbia, passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2023. Born in Gibson, North Carolina, on September 12, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Fred Grooms and Addie Parks Grooms. She was a longtime member of North Columbia Baptist Church in Columbia, South Carolina.

Mrs. Tyner was the loving wife to Roy Joseph Tyner, Sr. She and Mr. Tyner shared a strong marriage of devotion and support to each other from 1941 until his passing in 1979. Mrs. Tyner devoted her life to being a mother and raising her five children. She was a kind, loving soul with a very easy-going personality. Mrs. Tyner enjoyed crocheting and needle work, she was a wonderful cook and fondly remembered for her famous homemade biscuits.

Survivors include her children, Beverly Anne Keadle (Jimmie), Roy Joseph Tyner, Jr., William Frank Tyner (Bonnie), Joseph Tyner (Shirley), and Jerry Tyner (Ruth); as well as many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by siblings, Elbert Grooms, Luther Grooms, George Grooms, Bessie Langley, Almeta "Munk" Poytress, and Beulah McPhearson.

The funeral service for Mrs. Tyner will be held at 11 o'clock on Saturday, December 2nd, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, SC. Burial will follow at 2 o'clock at Oak Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery, 4237 Hatcher Hill Rd
Wallace, SC 29596. The family will receive friends for fellowship prior to the service beginning at 10 o'clock at the funeral home.
