Iris Dover Bayne, 90, of Columbia, died on Saturday, October 26, 2024. Born June 10, 1934, in Chester, SC, she was a daughter of the late James Patterson Dover and Rita Lee Inman Dover. Mrs. Bayne was the matriarch of her family and a devoted military spouse. She was an excellent high school basketball player which sparked her interest in college and pro athletics. Mrs. Bayne especially loved football and basketball. Prior to her retirement, she was employed for over 20 years with Rockwell Manufacturing. Mrs. Bayne was a member of Spears Creek Baptist Church in Elgin.

Survivors include her children, Rodney Bayne (Nicole), Penny Harris (Carroll), Dale Bayne, and Terry Bayne (Teresa); grandchildren, David Gibbs (Danielle), Christopher Bayne (Amanda), Brooke Buck (Connor), Preston Bayne (Anna Grace), and Erin Lowery; great grandchildren, Davis Bayne, Catherine Ann Bayne, Hunter Lowery, Waylon Lowery and Blakelynn Lowery, and two expected great grandchildren, Presley and Nolan . She also leaves behind her very special buddy she loved as her own grandchild, Ethan Reindflesh. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Cecil Marvin Bayne; granddaughter, Amanda Janelle Gibbs, as well as two precious baby Bayne grandchildren and two precious baby Bayne great grandchildren.

The funeral service for Mrs. Bayne will be held at 10:30 o'clock, Thursday, October 31st at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext, Columbia. The burial will follow at 12 o'clock noon at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Rd, Columbia.

The family will receive guests Wednesday evening, October 30th, from 5 until 7 o'clock, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia.
