Iris J. Deaton, 91, of Irmo, SC, died on Friday, December 31, 2021. Born September 15, 1930, in Buckhorn, KY, she was daughter of the late Yancy Amis and Alva Cornet Amis.

A Red Cross volunteer for many years, Ms. Iris was also an avid quilter who was a member of the quilter's guild and various art groups. She was a long-time member of St. Luke United Methodist Church and at one time served as a youth group leader.

Survivors include her loving husband, Doy Deaton; sons, Michael D. Deaton, Donald M. Deaton (Carrie); grandchildren, Joel, and Caroline Deaton; along with her longtime friend, Kathleen Carter.

The graveside service for Ms. Iris will be held at 12 o'clock, Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC with the Rev. Joe Copeland officiating.
