Irmgard Emma Anna Klein Varner, 87, of West Columbia, died Thursday, April 24, 2014. Born in Leimen, Germany on October 15, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Konrad and Anna Weber Klein. A faithful member of the Lutheran Church of the Ascension, Mrs. Varner will be dearly missed by both her family and church.

Survivors include her daughter, Doris (Brandon) Hawkins of Lexington; a grandson, Brandon O'Neil (Kristie) Hawkins, Jr. of Rock Hill; and a great-granddaughter, Kayleigh Hawkins. She was preceded in death by two husbands, William "Billy" Lackey and Clifford Varner, Sr.; as well as a grandson, Ashton Konrad Hawkins.

The funeral service for Mrs. Varner will be held at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel on Sunday, April 27, 2014, at 2 o'clock, with The Reverend Dennis Bolton officiating. Burial will follow in Celestial Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service, beginning at 1 o'clock. The family suggests memorials be made to Ascension Lutheran Church, 827 Wildwood Avenue, Columbia, SC 29203.
