Mr. J. David Teague, Sr., 84, of Gaston, died Monday, March 14, 2016. Born in Columbia on February 10, 1932, he was a son of the late David Chappell Teague and Sudie Elizabeth Davenport Teague. Mr. Teague was retired from the State of South Carolina where he worked as an instructor. He was also the owner of Teague Body Shop and Teague Construction Company. In retirement he enjoyed woodworking and became a Master Craftsman, winning an award from the South Carolina State Fair.
David was the devoted husband of 63 years, to his best friend, caregiver, and constant companion, Eleanor Elizabeth Hollis Teague. He is also survived by his children, John David Teague, Jr. (Brenda) of Saluda, Martha Elizabeth Teague Looney (Roy) of Columbia, James Chappell Teague (Tanya) of Greer, and Mary Eleanor Teague of Columbia; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, at 10 o'clock, Thursday, March 17th followed by a graveside service at Greenlawn Memorial Park at 11 o'clock. Dr. J. Eric Skidmore, Chaplain of South Carolina Department of Public Safety, will officiate. Memorials may be made to Boys Farm Inc., P.O.
