On Wednesday, October 3, 2012, Jack Benjamin Bowers, Jr., 87, of Elgin, passed away, after a long illness, at his home surrounded by his family. Mr. Bowers, widower of Kathleen S. Bowers, was born in Kershaw, SC on September 24, 1925. He was a son of the late Jack Benjamin Bowers, Sr. and Thelma Vincent Bowers of Kershaw, and had proudly served his country as a member of the US Army. He was the owner and operator of Jack Bowers Mobile Home Movers for 50 years. An avid gardener, Jack loved to share his bountiful harvest with others. He was a wonderful father and grandfather.

Surviving are his son, Danny Bowers (Jackie) of Elgin; daughters, Kathy Parker (Kenny) of Elgin and Sandy Price (Michael) of Lexington; grandchildren, Tabetha Solomon, Kenneth Parker, Jr., April Bowers, Dillin Price; and great grandchildren, Connor and Natalie; as well as sister, Daphne Faulkenberry of Kershaw.

The funeral service for Mr. Bowers will be held 3:00 o'clock, Sunday, October 7th, at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 2 o'clock. Burial will be held at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery, 9:30 o'clock, Monday morning.
