Columbia (formerly Camden) - A Celebration of Life for Jack Renato De Howitt, Sr. will be held Saturday, April 20th at 3:00 p.m. at Shives Funeral Home at 7600 Trenholm Rd. Ext. in Columbia. The family will receive friends following the service, as well as host a small reception. Mr. De Howitt died Saturday, March 30th. Memorials may be made to The Hoof and Paw Benevolent Society at PO Box 168, Blythewood, SC 29016.

Jack retired after 38 years from DuPont in Lugoff, SC where he was a Chemical Engineer in Research and Development, where he was responsible for 6 patents. He was an avid tennis player and runner for many years, and played well into his 80's.

Surviving are his children, Brigitte Junis, Amanda Steck (Mike), and Stacy De Howitt (Susie Bouw) of Columbia; daughter-in-law, Debbie De Howitt of Florida; grandchildren, Sean and Denise Junis, Steven and Jamie Junis, Zach Junis and Yash Verma, Danielle and David Lewis, Nicole and Laimonas Chatkevicius, Michael Steck, Katie Steck Foote, and Chase Steck; great grandchildren, Talia Junis, Kai Junis, Camryn Junis, Olivia Lewis, Mia Chatkevicius, Monika Chatkevicius, Maddie Foote, and Noah Steck. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Norma De Howitt, their son, Jack R. De Howitt, Jr., sister Zafira Joseph, and brother, Ralph De Howitt.
