Obituary

The funeral service for J.V. Jacobs, 85, of Blythewood, will be held on Friday, October 9, 2015, at 10:30 o'clock, at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, Columbia. Interment will follow at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church Cemetery on St. Andrews Road. Members of the Sojourner's Sunday School Class are invited to serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock, Thursday evening, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Rd Ext, Columbia. Memorials may be made to St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, 1416 Broad River Rd, Columbia, SC 29210; or to the Charles E. and Louise Seastrunk Scholarship Fund, Newberry College, 2100 College St, Newberry, SC 29108.

Mr. Jacobs died Tuesday, October 6, 2015. Born May 16, 1930, in Great Falls, SC, to the late Walter and Wilhemina Davis Jacobs, J.V. was the last surviving member of his immediate family. His life was defined by his love of family and his kindness and generosity to others. He retired from Seastrunk Electric Company after many years of service.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Jacobs; his children, Jackie Levister (Jeff), Jeanna Laws and Todd Jacobs (Tammie) of Chester, Rondal Jacobs of Myrtle Beach; daughter-in-law, Lisa Jacobs of Chester; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. J.V. was preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua Jacobs.
