Jack Scott Murdoch, Jr., 68, died Sunday, July 1, 2018. Born on July 19, 1949, in Asheville, NC, he was the son of Jack Scott Murdoch, Sr. and the late Gloria Jean Hall Murdoch. Mr. Murdoch was a US Army veteran who proudly served his country in the Vietnam war. During his enlistment, he received two Purple Hearts, six Bronze Stars, and the Combat Infantry Badge. He later went on to work for the Veterans Administration until his retirement. Mr. Murdoch was a very talented musician who loved playing his guitar. He also enjoyed being outdoors, especially when he had the opportunity to go fishing. He will be greatly missed by family and friends alike.
Surviving in addition to his father of Asheville, NC are his son, Jack Scott Murdoch, III (Maggie) of West Columbia; daughter, Janine Rominger (Justin) of Irmo; grandchildren, Breanna, Jacob, Henry, Abigail, Hayden, and Oakley; as well as his siblings, John, Sandy, and Dawn. In addition to his mother, Mr. Murdoch was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Allen Murdoch.
The service for Mr. Murdoch will be held 12 o'clock, Saturday, July 7th at Chapin Fellowship Church, 1632 Chapin Rd., Chapin, SC with Reverend William C. Mitchell, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
