Mr. Jacob "Jay" Matthew Meetze, Jr., died Sunday, July 28, 2013. Born October 30, 1926, in Lancaster, SC, he was a son of the late Jacob Matthew Meetze, Sr., and Ida Missouri Lowman Meetze.
Mr. Meetze was a third degree Mason with the Dutch Fork AFM Lodge, #402. Over the years, he had worked with Owen Steel, Trojan Steel, Kline Steel, and Columbia Supply Company.
Survivors include a daughter, Becky Hatchell; son, H. Joseph "Joe" (Holly) Meetze; grandchildren, Cris Garrick, Troy Hatchell, Dawn (Jason) Roland, Brandi Meetze; and seven great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Jay was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Isabel McLane Meetze.
A funeral service for Mr. Meetze will be held 1 o'clock, Tuesday, July 30th, at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Dr., Columbia, with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
