Obituary

Jacqueline "Jackie" Petty Blackmon, 61, of Columbia, died Saturday, January 5, 2013. Born September 15, 1951 in Gaffney, SC, she was a daughter of the late William Clark Petty and Alma Wright Petty. Jackie was a graduate of Midlands Technical College, and a longtime employee with Richland School District I. She was also a member of the First Church of God, Covenant Road.

Surviving are her sons, Kevin Blackmon and wife, Laura, of Lexington, Bryan Blackmon of Columbia, Tony Blackmon and wife, Angel, of Gilbertsville, KY; grandchildren, Robert, Chaney, Brendan and Morgan; sisters, Cindi (Frank) Gruden of Eastlake, OH and Sandra (Martin) Sheldon of Columbia; brother, Bill (Sue) Petty of Lexington; and her faithful dog, Katie. In addition to her parents, Jackie was preceded in death by her husband, Baron Eugene "Gene" Blackmon.

The funeral service for Mrs. Blackmon will be held 2:30 o'clock, Tuesday, January 8th, at the First Church of God, Covenant Road, 2665 Covenant Rd, with The Rev. Lee Butler officiating. Burial will follow at Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5 until 7 o'clock at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Drive.
