Jacqueline "Jackie" Posey Rivers died from pancreatic cancer on March 12, 2018, at 84 years old. Jackie was the daughter of the late Carlisle and Beauford Riley. She grew up in Blythewood, SC. and graduated from Blythewood High School, in 1952.
On July 4, 1976, she married Everett L. Rivers in Ft. Walton Beach, FL. Jackie enjoyed baking and reading cookbooks. Her family and friends were fond of her mouthwatering coconut cake. Her keen memory earned her the position of family historian.
Jackie retired from Colonial Life and Accident Insurance Company in Columbia after 18 years of dedicated service. During her time at Colonial she was recognized for her consistently high productivity, her organizational skills and her attention to details that made her ideally suited for her auditing responsibilities.
Jackie was a member of the Blythewood Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and enjoyed attending North Trenholm Baptist Church. Her caring nature was expressed through her service on the bereavement committee, meeting the needs of her fellow parishioners.
Jackie's first love was her family. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, who will be dearly missed. Jackie is survived by her husband, Everett Lee Rivers; her daughter, Lori Posey; and her son, Brian Posey, all from Columbia, South Carolina. Jackie is also survived by her stepson, Bobby Rivers of Louisa, Virginia, his wife, Donna; stepdaughter, Carolyn Cooper, and her husband, Ned, of Winter Park, Florida; and eight grandchildren; Ashley Gandy, Kelli and Kimberly Posey, Sara, Jeff and Chris Cooper, Blake Rivers, Melissa Ambrose and one great-granddaughter, Kalina Ambrose.
The funeral service will be 10 o'clock, Thursday, March 15th, at North Trenholm Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 9 o'clock.
