Jackie Townsend, 79, passed away peacefully after an extended illness. Jackie's life was a testament to her strong Christian faith, and she lived her life with integrity and an unwavering trust in God. She graduated from Edisto High School and Furman University with a major in Elementary Education and a minor in Piano. Jackie was a homemaker, church pianist, and a frequently requested accompanist. She was a member of Laurens First Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Luther Townsend, her children, Kes (Jodi) Townsend, Lori (Terry) Smoak, Kevin (Ann) Townsend, and her grandchildren, Hannah (Adam) Polston, Leah (Jonnie) Hernandez, Luke Smoak, Piper Townsend, Providence Townsend, and her brother, Tommy (Jeanette) Mixson. She was predeceased by her parents, James & Eleanor Mixson, and her brothers, Kirk Mixson and George Mixson.

A celebration of her life will be held at Kilbourne Park Baptist Church, 4205 Kilbourne Rd, Columbia, SC 29206 on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 6:00 PM. Visitation and a reception will follow the service at the church in the Annie Greene building.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kilbourne Park Baptist Church Women's Ministry.
