James Edwin Chamberlain, 73, of Columbia, died on Wednesday, June 25, 2025. Born on March 9, 1952, in London, England, he was the son of the late James Edwin Chamberlain, Sr. and Mary Teresa Friel Chamberlain. Mr. Chamberlain honorably served his country in the US Army. Following his military enlistment, he earned his bachelor's degree from Marist University in Poughkeepsie, NY. Mr. Chamberlain was employed as a correctional officer for the New York State Department of Corrections for 26 years. He relocated to South Carolina and continued to work for Charleston County Sheriffs Office as a correctional officer for another 10 years. In 2017, he retired and relocated to Columbia to be closer to family.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Theresa; children, James Edwin Chamberlain, III (Allison) of Blythewood and Kathryn E. Samartis (Cosmas) of Columbia. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Charlotte, James, IV, and Carter.

A private interment will be held at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC.
