James A. (Jim) Daniel, 88, of Elgin, died on Sunday, July 19, 2026. Born on June 20, 1938, in Atlanta, Georgia, Jim spent his childhood in Decatur, Georgia, before his family later settled in Jacksonville, Florida. He graduated from Landon High School and attended Jacksonville University.
Jim built an outstanding career in the automotive and trucking industry, beginning with The White Motor Company, where his dedication and talent led him to become a highly respected truck salesman throughout North Florida. Over the course of his distinguished career, he held several executive leadership positions, including President of Daniel Ford in Moncks Corner, South Carolina; Vice President and General Manager of Florence Mack Trucks in Florence, South Carolina; Vice President and General Manager of East Carolina Ford Trucks in Columbia, South Carolina; and Vice President and General Manager of Florida Mack Trucks in Orlando, Florida. He was admired for his leadership, integrity, and commitment to excellence.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Jim embraced life with enthusiasm. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed many years as a member of Selva Marina Country Club in Atlantic Beach, Florida, and Berkeley Country Club in South Carolina, where he proudly served two terms as president. He also had a lifelong passion for bird hunting, traveling extensively in pursuit of exceptional wing shooting experiences. He was a devoted member of Hagen Hunting Club in the South Carolina Lowcountry, where he formed many lasting friendships.
He is survived by his daughter, Tanci Lynn Daniel Monfils (Ronald Brian Monfils); grandchildren, Daniel Charles Monfils and Taylor Lynn Monfils; sister, Wanda Joyner Fritton. He is preceded in death by his parents, George D. Joyner and Agnes Howard Joyner; and wife, Martha Lou Middleton Daniel.
In honor of his wishes a private graveside service will be held.
