Obituary

Mr. James (Jim) Albert Eldridge, 75, of Blythewood, died on Monday, July 14, 2025.

Born in Orange, New Jersey, on October 2, 1949, Jim was a son of the late Albert Bogardus Eldridge and Irene Erickson Eldridge. He was raised in Sparta, New Jersey, but later in life made Blythewood, South Carolina his home.

As a true adventurer at heart, Jim enjoyed traveling the world, especially cruising the seas. A true sports fanatic, he was a devoted fan of the New York Yankees and the Denver Broncos. Some of his favorite times were had while attending hundreds of professional ballgames with family and friends. He could always be found sharing sports stories and stats with family and friends; especially about his all-time favorite players, Mickey Mantle "The Mick" and Babe Ruth.

Jim enjoyed a skilled card game and was true competitor, being known as an expert in the game of Bridge, which he played regularly with friends. His love of music led him to attend countless concerts over the years, always eager to discover new artists and enjoy old favorites. He was proud to have served in the US Army where he was honorably discharged as a 2nd Lieutenant.

Survivors include his wife, Robbie Lynn Stone Eldridge; children, Marc Eldridge (Gurpreet), Jason Eldridge (Jessica), Christy Young, and Candy Sharpe (Bill); grandchildren, Taylor, Madison, Dillon, Emmett, Isabel, Cody, Gavin, Hayden, Thomas and Joshua "JJ"; sisters-in-law, Elaine Player (Allen) and Ann Eldridge; as well as a nephew, Matthew Stone. He was preceded in death by his brother, William Eldridge; mother-in-law, JoAnn Botts; and brother-in-law, Johnny Stone.

The funeral service for Mr. Eldridge will be held at 4 o'clock, Friday, July 18th, 2025 at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Extension 7600 Trenholm Road Ext. Columbia, SC 29223. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service beginning at 3 o'clock. A family burial will be held on Sunday, July 20th, at 2 o'clock, at Long Cane Cemetery in Abbeville, SC.
