James Robert Marrs, 54, of Columbia, died Thursday, March 6, 2014. Born November 7, 1959 in Paris, France he was a son of the late James P. Marrs and Pearl Jarrell Marrs. James loved gardening and spending time in nature. He greatly enjoyed all sports, especially basketball which he loved playing until an injury ended his involvement. He had a wonderful sense of humor, and always loved to make people laugh.

Survivors include his sisters, Mary Jane (Carl) Wilson, and Ginger Davis; brothers, David Larry Marrs of Spokane, WA, and William Jarrell Marrs of Irmo; three nephews; one niece; and one great-niece; as well as dear friends, Lori and Matt Wilhoit of Hopkins, and his beloved pet chihuahua, Cricket. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by grandparents, Stanley and Agnes Jarrell.

A memorial service will be held 6 o'clock Sunday evening, March 9th at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 5 o'clock.
