James Richard McLaurin, Jr., 44, of Irmo, died on Wednesday, April 6, 2022. Born in Lexington, SC, on December 28, 1977, he was a son of James Richard McLaurin, Sr., and Jean Carol Branham Martin. He was self employed in construction and enjoyed supporting the Dallas Cowboys and Carolina Gamecocks. He also enjoyed listening to music, playing basketball and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, survivors include his wife, Ashley Ann Daniel McLaurin; son, Brandon McLaurin (Carrady); daughter, Morgan McLaurin; sisters, Chasity Hupenbecker, Tiffany McLaurin, Lauren Lee, and Chelsea McLaurin; and his step-father, Ronnie Martin.

The funeral service for Mr. McLaurin will be held at 2 o'clock, Friday, April 15, 2022, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, with Chaplain Sean Smith officiating. A private burial will follow the service in Centerville Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home beginning at 1 o'clock.
