Obituary

James Robert "Red" Jenkins, 76, of Columbia, died Tuesday, April 30, 2013. He was born to the late William Charles and Louise Walker Jenkins in Logan, West Virginia on June 26, 1936. Red was a member of the Broad River Masonic Lodge, #377. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and billiard player.

Survivors include his daughters, Stephanie Brown and Kim Jenkins, both of Columbia; son, Jim Jenkins of Lexington; the mother of his children, Gwynna "Sue" Jenkins of Lexington; granddaughter, Gwynna Brown; great granddaughter, Madison Brown; and a number of other family members and friends. In addition to his parents, Red was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Melissa Jenkins.

The funeral service for Mr. Jenkins will be held 2 o'clock, Thursday, May 2nd, at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia, with The Rev. Brett DeYoung officiating. Entombment will follow at Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 1 o'clock.
