Obituary

James "Jimbo" David Robbins, III, 39, of Blythewood, died Friday, May 8, 2020. Born in Florence, SC, on March 14, 1981, he was a son of James David Robbins, Jr. and Genie Wright Frierson.

At age 3, Jim moved to Blythewood with his family where he was raised and educated at Bethel Hanberry Elementary, Summit Parkway Middle and later Ridgeview High School. He spent most of his adult life living in Northeast Columbia, and was known as "The Fun Guy". Jim's big crowning moment was attending Morris Village where he overcame his years of addiction. There was a lot of hard work and determination, but his new life started in August of 2018, when he became clean and healthy. Jim was extremely proud of his accomplishments and he began to love everyone even more than he already did.

In addition to his parents, Jim is survived by his son, James Michael Watson; step-father, Donald T. Frierson; brother, Kevin Dane Robbins; maternal grandmother, Genie Wright; paternal grandmother, Florence Robbins Clark. Jim is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Wallace Wright; and paternal grandfather, James David Robbins.

Friends and family who would like to pay their respects and view Mr. Robbins may do so between the hours of 9 and 5 o'clock, Tuesday, May 12th and Wednesday, May 13th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia. A time to celebrate Jim's life will be held beginning at 4 o'clock, Saturday, May 16th, at his home, 101 Paul Road, Blythewood.
