James R. "Jimmy" Swindler, 71, of Columbia, died, Wednesday, October 10, 2012. Born January 28, 1941 in Columbia, he was a son of the late Marshall B. Swindler and Marguerite Bagley Swindler. A loving father and devoted husband, Mr. Swindler was owner of Master Plumbing Company as well as several convenience stores in the Columbia area.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Delcie Swindler; a son, Joseph (Carmen) Swindler of Columbia; daughter, Rev. Laurie (Rev. Hector) Pineda of Columbia; sister, Rebecca (Jackie) Spears of Ridgeway; grandchildren, Justin (Elly) Swindler of Columbia, Randan Swindler of Washington, DC, Jessica Swindler of Columbia, Harrison Pineda of Columbia; great-grandchildren, Jairen Esther, Murray Grace Swindler; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Mr. Swindler was preceded in death by a son, Murray "Randy" Swindler; three brothers, Claude, Wayne and Timmy; two sisters, Lucy and Marcy.

The funeral service for Mr. Swindler will be held at 4 o'clock, Monday, October 15, 2012 at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia with The Rev. Laurie Pineda and The Rev. Hector Pineda officiating. Interment will follow in Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 3 o'clock. Memorials may be made to Hope Christian Academy, 545 Alexander Circle, Columbia, SC 29206.
