Janet Purvis Eaddy Langley, wife of Arthur Buist Langley II, passed away on August 23, 2015 at her home in Columbia, SC. Born in Johnsonville, SC, on December 15, 1932, she was the daughter of Janie Mae Purvis Eaddy and Watson Simmons Eaddy. She attended Converse College in Spartanburg, SC, for two years and then graduated with a degree in Elementary Education from the University of South Carolina in 1954 and later earned a Master's Degree in Education. At Converse College and as a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority at USC, she made many lifelong friends. She began her teaching career in Beaufort and continued in Charleston, Cocoa Beach, Florida and Manning and then later at St. Joseph's School and Hood Street Elementary at Fort Jackson in Columbia. She was a wonderful, creative teacher with a special gift for teaching young children and was sent many personal letters by former students whose lives she influenced. She was a member of Trinity Cathedral and active in the children's Sunday school program and also a long time member of the Altar Guild. She was a member of the Junior League of Columbia, the Camellia Ball, and treasured volunteering at the SPCA. Her greatest joys were her husband, children, grandchildren, friends, and especially, all animals.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Arthur Buist "Hank" Langley III (Hart) of Columbia and their children Anne, Allie and Elizabeth; her daughter, Janie Elizabeth Langley; and daughter, Claudia Langley Fortner (Marvin) of Columbia and their children Brook, Campbell and Janie; her only sibling, Lulie Eaddy Felder (Dicky) of Summerton and their children Rick, Betsy, and Watson.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. Albert G. Eaddy of Johnsonville, SC, and Mr. and Mrs. Melvin H. Purvis of Timmonsville, SC; as well as her niece, Amy Simmons Felder of Summerton, SC.
