Janet E. Sloan, 69, of Columbia died Thursday, February 8, 2018. Born on July 26, 1948 in Columbia, Janet was a daughter of Dorothy Fulmer Hinnant Kerscher and the late William L. Hinnant.

Janet enjoyed going on shopping sprees, as well as hunting and fishing, often reminding her children that she killed the biggest deer. She loved her dogs, but most importantly she loved her family. Janet was cared for by her mother, "Grandma Dot", for the past seven years.

In addition to her mother, Janet is survived by her children, Brian Keith Sloan (Pamela), Andrew "Andy" Errol Sloan (Pam), and Susie Sloan Amick (Tony); her grandchildren, Chris, Travis, Justin, Brandon, Cory, and Josh; along with her sisters, Barbara Tyler and Elaine Bowman (Bill); and her brother, Bill Hinnant (Leisha). Janet was predeceased in death by her husband, William Rice Sloan, Jr.

A graveside service for Mrs. Janet Sloan will be held 2 o'clock, Saturday, February 17th at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Mason Road, Columbia. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
