Obituary
Janice H. Ross, 73, of Elgin, died Tuesday, November 30, 2021. Born September 19, 1948, in Mercer County, Kentucky, she was a daughter of Willie Mae Bunton Hinson and the late Lewis Carl Hinson. Prior to her retirement, Ms. Ross was employed by Richland Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed her family, road trips to the mountains, and sitting on her porch listening to the birds sing.
In addition to her mother of Irmo, SC, she is survived by her children, Kimberly Gilfillen (Dennis) of Seabrook, SC and Anthony Wayne Ross, Jr. of Seabrook, SC; grandchildren, Amber Gilfillen, Dennis Gilfillen, Jr., and Brady Wayne Ross; great grandchild, McKenzie Gilfillen; brothers, William Lewis Hinson of Lexington, SC and Phillip Ray Hinson of Irmo, SC; as well as her significant other of 11 years, Danny Ross.
A private entombment will be held at Elmwood Cemetery, 501 Elmwood Ave, Columbia, SC 29201.
Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family and will announce further plans.
