Janis Hyatt Braxton, 76, of West Columbia, died on Friday, July 1, 2022. Born in Whiteville, NC, on September 15, 1945. She was a daughter of the late Annie Pearl Hardee. Mrs. Braxton was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Neal Braxton.

Surviving Mrs. Braxton are her daughters, Susie Braxton, Amanda Aleen Braxton (Steven Broome), and Brianna Alise Braxton; as well as two stepdaughters; grandchildren, Braiden Neal Broome, Ron Hewitt, Jr., Jon Hewitt, Alexis Hewitt, Brantley Braxton and Easton Braxton; great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

The funeral service for Mrs. Braxton will be held at 2 o'clock, Friday, July 8th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, SC. Burial will follow the service in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Thursday evening at the funeral home.
