Obituary

Jean Brazell Carter, 68, of Columbia, died Monday, September 23, 2013. Born April 4, 1945 in Columbia, she was a loving and devoted daughter of Irene Bryant Brazell and the late Lever Brazell. Jean retired from the Federal Employees Program at Blue Cross Blue Shield. She was a beautiful and loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who touched many people with her bubbly spirit and sense of humor. A member of Highway Pentecostal Holiness Church, Jean was an ordained minister and Sunday school teacher. She influenced many lives for Christ with her Bible teaching.

Survivors include her daughter, Allison Carter Motley; son, Rodger Carter, both of Lugoff; her mother of Columbia; siblings, Shirley (Frank) Allen, Billy (Jeanette) Brazell, all of Columbia and Mack (Dale) Brazell of Elgin; grandchildren, Quentin Motley, Taylor Beauchemin, Brianna McCarthy and Lane Carter; and great grandchild, Sawyer McCarthy.

The funeral service for Ms. Carter will be held 2 o'clock, Thursday, September 26th at Highway Pentecostal Holiness Church, 2290 Heath Pond Rd, Elgin, with The Rev. Jimmy Floyd officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhaven Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock, Wednesday evening, at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Dr, Columbia.
