Jean Cooper Hinson, 67, of Columbia, died Friday, September 26, 2014. Born in Columbia on October 14, 1946, she was a daughter of the late William K. Cooper and Vera Gordon Cooper. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, and was a lady of great character whose judgment, humor, and friendly spirit brought out the finest in those around her.

Survivors include her daughter, Melissa (Carlo) Milillo of Mountain Home, ID; son, Chris (James Edwards) Hinson of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Gabby and Dominick Milillo; brother, Ernest (Julie) Cooper of Winnsboro; sister, Marian (Roland) LaGasse of GA. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hinson was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Loren Hinson.

The service for Mrs. Hinson will be held at 12 o'clock, Wednesday, October 1st at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia. Burial will follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 11 o'clock.
