Mrs. Jean Hagins Quattlebaum, 86, of Columbia, died Monday, June 2, 2014. Born July 15, 1927 in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late Dewey and Eunice Young Hagins. A lifetime member of College Place United Methodist Church, Mrs. Quattlebaum was also a member of the Morning Love Circle. Jean retired from SC Insurance Services office and enjoyed a second career working for the Drose Law Firm in Columbia until she was in her 80's.
Jean enjoyed people, being a part of the Columbia Jazz Club, the Capital Senior Center, and regular nights out with friends. Dancing was one of her passions.
Survivors include her daughters, Patricia (Harold) Paris of Columbia, Paula Hipp of Myrtle Beach, SC; sister, Betty Ann Hagins Sharpe of North Myrtle Beach, SC; grandchildren, Amber Hipp, Diane (Nenad) Paris, and Jonathan Paris; three great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Jennings Quattlebaum; brother, Billy Hagins; and sister, Agnes Howe.
The funeral service for Mrs. Quattlebaum will be held 11 o'clock, Friday, June 6th, at College Place United Methodist Church with The Rev. Tiffany D. Knowlin officiating. Private burial will be held later in the day at Elmwood Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 5 until 7 o'clock, Thursday evening at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Dr, Columbia.
