Jeffrey W. Able, a resident of Mt. Pleasant, SC, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2017. Born on February 3, 1967, in Columbia, SC, he was employed as a quality control software engineer for Booz Allen Hamilton. He grew up in Columbia, attending Cardinal Newman High School and the University of South Carolina, where he earned both his B.S. and M.S. from the College of Engineering and Computing. He was a gentle and kind spirit; loving music, hiking in the mountains, the companionship of good friends, his wonderful team at work, and of course, the Gamecocks. He will be deeply missed for his sense of humor, which added a special dimension to every gathering, his loyal friendship, and his generosity and helpfulness to all he knew.

He is survived by his loving mother, Carol A. Able; brother, Stephen F. Able; stepfather, William F. Ranson; father, William F. Able; and dear friends, Mike Holliday and Scott and Nicole Frey.

A visitation will be held from 5 until 7 o'clock, Wednesday, November 29th at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Oliver Gospel Mission, 1100 Taylor Street, Columbia, SC 29201, or another charity in his remembrance. The family would especially like the thank the doctors and nurses in the MUSC ICU.
