Jeffrey John Kososki, 49, of Columbia, SC passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2023.
Jeff was born on March 7, 1974, in Columbia, SC and was the son of John F and Carol (Hensel) Kososki.
Jeff is survived by his loving and devoted wife of nearly 19 years, Leah Staton Kososki; his daughter, Julia Mabry Kososki, who he adored; his parents, Dr. John F. and Carol J. Kososki; and sister, Dr. Laura Lynn Kososki.
Jeff grew up in Columbia, attended Timmerman School and was a graduate of Richland Northeast High School. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with areas of concentration in accounting, finance, investment analysis, sales, and management from College of Charleston in May 1996. During college, he was an active member of Alpha Tau Omega (ATO) Fraternity where he made many lifelong friends.
Professional credentials include Certified Public Accountant, CPA July 23, 2003, and membership in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the South Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants as well as securities licenses.
He pursued a career in accountancy, controllership, and organizational and investment management at Morgan Stanley; NBSC (Synovus); Gamble, Givens and Moody; American Solid Woven Corp/ Siltek Corp; Palmetto Health; and Richland County.
Jeff was a competitive tennis player and loved the waters of South Carolina and Wisconsin (where his grandparents lived). Some of his most treasured moments were spent in his 17-foot Boston Whaler boat with family and friends. He enjoyed water skiing, fishing, and surfing. He surfed the waters in Barbados, Hawaii, and Costa Rica (where he turned 21 years of age).
As a long-term resident of Forest Acres and Columbia, he was a member of Forest Lake Club and Eastminster Presbyterian Church where he had many friends. He loved his family and dog Millie (Yorkie) dearly.
The memorial service for Mr. Kososki will be held at 2 o'clock on Wednesday, August 23, at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 3200 Trenholm Rd, Columbia, SC. A reception will immediately follow the service in Thompson Hall. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family. A livestream of the service will be available at

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Eastminster Presbyterian Church or the Jeff Kososki Endowed Scholarship Fund for accounting majors for attainment of the Certified Public Accounting designation at the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina.
