Jerry G. Boney, 77, of Lexington, died Saturday, December 12, 2020. Born May 1, 1943, in Columbia, he was a son of the late Durham Sawyer Boney, Sr. and Elizabeth Kelly Boney.
Mr. Boney honorably served his country in the US Navy. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a truck broker with Banks Brokerage. Mr. Boney was a USC Gamecocks fan, a great fisherman, and enjoyed working in his yard. He adored his Boston Terriers and considered them a part of his family. Mr. Boney could appreciate a glass of wine or a cold Budweiser if both were consumed in the evening while enjoying a sunset. He frequently listened to beach music and was an excellent shagger. Throughout the years, Mr. Boney maintained special friendships with his classmates of Eau Claire High School, Class of 1962. They met every Wednesday morning at the Lizard's Thicket in Irmo to fellowship and reminisce.
Survivors include his wife, Frances B. Boney; son, Chris Boney (Devon Underwood) of Lexington; daughter, Angi Horton (Billy) of Lexington; grandchildren, Brianna Horton, Kendal Horton, Kyra Boney, and Ava Boney; as well as his nieces, Debbie Boney and Cindy Barber (Jimmy). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Dewain Sawyer Boney and his brother, Durham Sawyer Boney, Jr.
A funeral service will be held at 4 o'clock Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext, Columbia, SC. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 3 o'clock.
