Jerry Walter Mitchell

Jerry Walter Mitchell, 73, of Blythewood, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.

A loving brother, father, grandfather, and friend, Jerry will be remembered for his generous heart, devotion to his family, and unwavering support of those he loved.

Jerry worked in the roofing department of the South Carolina Department of Corrections. He also worked at the South Carolina State Fairgrounds during home football games, other events, and the fair. He took pride in his work and in providing for his family.

In his spare time, Jerry enjoyed watching South Carolina Gamecock football and relaxing with family and friends at Apache Family Campground, where he made many cherished memories.

Jerry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Terry Mitchell; infant daughter, Allison Mitchell; brother, Ronald “Ronnie” Mitchell; and sister, Ann Davis.

He is survived by his son, Jeff; granddaughter, Makayla; Makayla’s mother, Laura; brothers Dawson (Denise) and Wayne (Amy); sister Debbie (Dave); and several nieces and nephews.

Jerry’s greatest joy was his family, especially his one and only granddaughter Makayla. His love, guidance, humor, and presence will be deeply missed, while the memories he created with those he loved will remain in their hearts forever.

Rest peacefully, Brother, Dad, Granddad, and friend. You are loved more than words can say and will never be forgotten.
